Baahubali: The Conclusion stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Sathyaraj. The movie is scheduled to release on April 28.
Very rarely does a movie come in Indian cinema that we can take on an international level when it comes to the scope and special effects for you. Thanks to the visionary director, SS Rajamouli, we have not one but two movies in Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion. The first movie, that came back in 2015, had some more than decent special effects and visual beauty (check out that war scene towards the end of the first movie. If you were stunned by what you saw, prepare to have your minds blown away in the sequel, for that's what the makers have promised us - bigger and better than the first movie. And if the spell-binding trailer of Baahubali 2 is anything to go by, we do believe whatever promises the makers have for us.
The VFX looks better than the original movie, the action sequences look larger than life and it can easily give some really tough competition to a few Hollywood blockbusters, notably the below five movies:.
Gods of EgyptThis 2016 fantasy movie, starring 300 actor Gerard Butler and Game of Thrones fame Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, was quite ridiculed for whitewashing Egyptian actors and poor special effects. Though the movie bombed at the box office and received mediocre reviews, it is considered as one of the so bad it's good kind of movies and has developed a cult following ever since.
ImmortalsIndian-born director Tarsem Singh is known for making movies that basic screw up with your mind, and at the same time also paint a beautiful canvas on the screen. However, his attempt in making a huge blockbuster with Immortals, starring a pre-Superman Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke and falls flat even though the movie shows promise. The movie suffers from an overdose of CGI, and a boring pace in narration. However, do check Tarsem Singh's underrated The Fall to see how to make a really beautiful movie without depending too much on CGI.
HerculesHercules is a mildly enjoyable action adventure that has a grounded version of the mythological character, played by Dwayne Johson here. The action sequences are more than decent, and the movie was a decent success thanks to The Rock's pull at the box office. The reason why we feel Baahubali would even compete with this one, is because the Rajamouli movie has already lifted off one sequence from and had rendered it well.
Fantastic 4Superhero movies are mostly laden with special effects, and most of them are done well. But I cannot say the same about this 2015 reboot of the Marvel superhero family that disappoints on every level - be it premise, narration, direction, performances and special effects. We can say, Baahubali 2 can defeat this one with ease.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
The first two Mummy movies were enjoyable movies with an equal mix, of humour, adventure, action and horror. The third movie, for some reason, goes to China and becomes too campy for its own good. Nothing worked here, especially relegating Brendan Fraser to a supporting role to give prominence to his character's son's love story. Even the special effects are not really good.
